Parent-School Compact

As a Student:

  • I am important!
  • I am responsible for being the best learner I can be.
  • I will do what is right, not because someone is watching me, but because it is the right thing to do.
  • I will obey all classroom and school rules.
  • I will come to school daily and be prepared to learn.
  • I will show respect for myself and all living beings.
As a parent/guardian, I will:
  • Talk to my child about schoolwork and activities every day.
  • Read and sign the Agenda Book daily.
  • Read to my child or have my child read to me at every available opportunity (everyday).
  • Show respect for my child, other children, their families, the teachers and the school with my words and actions.
  • Check daily to see that all homework is completed.
  • Communicate and work with the school staff to encourage my child with academics and positive behavior.
  • See that my child attends school regularly, arrives on time and is ready to learn.
  • See that my child wears Shwab Standard School Attire.
  • Attend a minimum of two parent meetings and school functions during the school year.
  • Provide feedback and/or suggestions for improvement in school-wide planning.
  • Notify the school and teacher of any address, contact numbers or emergency changes. I will also notify the school about any changes in the life of my child because it is my responsibility.
As a school, we will:
  • Make sure the school is a safe, healthy and nurturing place that encourages life long learning.
  • Believe that all children can learn by providing an environment conducive to learning.
  • Show that we care about students academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Respect the cultural differences of students and their families.
  • Seek ways to involve parents in the school programs and activities.
  • Communicate with families through the agenda book and other means daily to support student learning.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior and positive attitudes through out actions and words.
  • Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer in class and school activities.
  • Discuss this compact at formal and informal conferences.
  • Have a minimum of two face-to-face conferences throughout the school year.
